RB QUALITIES

Being a good running back in football requires a combination of speed, agility, strength, vision, and instinct. You need to be able to quickly read the defense, find openings in the opposing team's line, and make split-second decisions on when to change direction or accelerate. Endurance and durability are also crucial since running backs often take hits while carrying the ball. Additionally, good ball-handling skills and the ability to catch passes out of the backfield can make you even more valuable to your team.

What to Expect

01

Develop Speed and Agility

Speed drills will improve your acceleration and top speed. Agility drills will help you maneuver quickly and evade defenders.

02

Strength Training

Build strength in your legs, core, and upper body to improve your ability to break tackles and maintain balance while running with the ball.

03

Footwork

We will practice various footwork drills to improve your agility and ability to change direction quickly.

04

Study the Game

Learn about different offensive schemes and play designs. Understand your role within the offense and how to execute your assignments effectively.

05

Ball Security

We will focus on proper ball-handling techniques to minimize fumbles. This includes holding the ball high and tight to your body while running and being aware of defenders trying to strip the ball.

06

Pass-catching Skills

We will work on catching passes out of the backfield to become a dual-threat running back. This adds versatility to your game and makes you harder to defend against.

07

Blocking

Improve your blocking skills to protect the quarterback in pass protection situations and create running lanes for your teammates.

08

Endurance Training

Running backs need to have excellent cardiovascular endurance to sustain their performance throughout the game. We will incorporate endurance training into your workouts, such as long-distance running or interval training.
